Teen and Adult Therapy
My work is trauma-responsive, client-centered, and LGBTQIA+ and people of color affirming. I believe each individual who comes to see me brings a wealth of experience and knowledge as strengths. Using these strengths as starting points, we do the work together to move towards healing and improved functioning.
It is an honor to witness your journey to healing.
In my master’s program I specialized in psychological trauma studies, and applied community psychology because I believe that mental wellness and mental illness don’t exist in a vacuum. We are all a product of our environments and experiences.
I Specialize in Working With:
Trauma and PTSD
Transitions and Life Adjustments
Therapy for BIPOC
My orientation to therapeutic work is varied and draws from narrative therapy, EMDR, mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy as appropriate. Primarily, I practice in a way that allows for the client to be the expert in their own experiences and for me as the therapist to help you uncover your life stories, examine them for impact, and decide which pieces of the narratives you have for yourself are not serving you well. After all, who knows your life better than you?
In my therapy room:
We understand the client is the expert of their own experience.
We acknowledge that broader societal context and issues of race, class, sexuality, gender, ability and other identifiers inform one’s experience.
We know that everyone is doing the best they can in the moment with what they have to work with.
We explore feelings without judgement and allow each client to bring their whole self into the work.
